Dean Landy

Author, Architect, Entrepreneur and Philanthropist.

Dean Landy is a forward-thinking architect, urban designer and social entrepreneur. With 18 years’ experience in the design industry and a partner at the leading Melbourne-based practice ClarkeHopkinsClarke, he is heavily involved in the design and construction of a wide range of complex projects from community hubs through to the planning of future cities. At each level he is mindful of the role and impact the built environment has on the surrounding community, and is acutely aware of the responsibility design professionals play in achieving people-focused places.

As a social entrepreneur, and following a passion to improve the lives of others, Dean founded One Heart Foundation – a not-for-profit organisation establishing schools and homes for orphaned and abandoned children living in poverty in Africa. Through the work of One Heart and the development of child focused sustainable eco-villages, Dean is literally transforming the lives of hundreds of the most disadvantaged children, and transforming entire communities in the process.

Dean is also the founder and CEO of Tribus.org, a digital platform achieving the very aspirations set out in this book – to empower people and build community. Tribus provides the opportunities for people to get more involved in decisions that effect their local community.

As an engaging speaker on the topic of architecture, urban design, and social impact Dean always looks to inspire and challenge others around him with the idea of creating a lasting legacy that will impact the lives of others.
