Wendy Brentnall Wood

Music Lover, Music Teacher, Music Author and Music Businesswoman

Wendy is the founder and director of Music School Success, a business that coaches music teachers to turn their passion into their own profitable venture.

Music is (and always has been) Wendy’s passion even before she first started learning the piano as a child. That learning expanded over the years to include the clarinet, percussion instruments, guitar, oboe, violin and pipe organ.

A Melbourne University Conservatorium of Music graduate, Wendy has spent her lifetime overcoming many challenges to make her passion for music her career.

Her musical journey over the past three decades has included teaching private music classes, running and managing her own music teaching businesses, as well as holding music teaching positions at various Victorian primary and secondary schools. She has also directed choirs, string orchestras, concert bands, founded and directed a piano eisteddfod, coordinated church music and performed in various ensembles.

In among all that, she has written and self-published over 110 music teaching method books and launched an online video music performance competition.

Challenges she has overcome along the way include surviving Black Saturday (but almost losing her house in the process), as well as the inevitable struggles of juggling business and family life.

Wendy has served as a board member for Community Music Victoria and ANZCA as well as several arts and business committees and is a regular workshop presenter at various national music conferences.

Besides her various music interests and ventures, Wendy’s other passions include her family (husband Howard, daughters Jessica and Cara, and son James), her dog (a Collie/Kelpie cross named Murphy) and cats (Archie, Ruby and daughter’s cat Jet). She also has a soft spot for BMWs.
