John Kumm

John is an academic who has since developed another side of life – as a business entrepreneur and advisor.

His education and training was in electrical and electronic engineering, and he taught for many years at a variety of Australian universities.

John then decided to leave academia and began a career as an innovation and entrepreneurship advisor and consultant, working with Government and many of the world’s leading corporate consultancy businesses. He has established and sold a number of businesses during his career, and was involved as a key advisor in the early establishment of online accommodation booking engines.

John has also been involved in travel and tourism from the time of his first overseas trip at age 12 to the present day. He and Barbara have successfully established and developed a boutique luxury B&B in Tasmania, and during this time, John held a Board position with a State accommodation representative body.

John and Barbara are currently running a range of business activities, including a number relating to the travel and tourism sector.
