Juan Aguilera

Juan Aguilera brings a wealth of commercial experience to his coaching, from owning his own business to working in corporate and venture capital firms. He has been an executive coach since 2000, with engagements in the manufacturing, consumer goods, banking and finance sectors. Juan has also been a lecturer on executive coaching at international business schools.

Juan has been working in leadership development for over 10 years and has more recently specialised in assisting senior leaders with their transition into new roles. He was a keynote speaker in the 2009 Australian Executive Coaching Summit, where he presented about the importance of accelerating leaders’ transitions and ensuring successful onboarding.

After a successful investment banking career in Venezuela, Juan decided to explore new horizons and relocated to Australia, initially working in business development then moving across to executive coaching and change management. Over the years Juan has worked on many culture change programs, with demonstrated improvements in productivity and performance.

A marathon runner and mountain climber, Juan believes that all people are extremely capable and powerful, and that coaching unleashes hidden potential. He earned a bachelors degree in electronic engineering from Simon Bolivar University, an MBA in finance and general management from IESA (Instituto de Estudios Superiores de Administración), and a masters degree in human resources and coaching from the University of Sydney, Australia. He also has advanced training from Human Synergistics, Sydney. Juan is a member of the University of Sydney Coaching and Mentoring Association and the Australian Human Resources Institute.

He lives in Sydney, Australia, with his wife and two children.
