Dian Booth

Author, Healer, Spiritual Teacher, Concert Violinist, Composer and Psychologist

Dian originally had two dreams, one to become a concert violinist and the other to become a psychologist. The latter, she felt was necessary in order to understand herself and her demons.

The violinist dream came true when she was offered a full-time job as a violinist in the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, at the age of 19. A few years later, while a member of the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, she graduated with honours in psychology from Melbourne University.

For the first 25 years of her professional life, Dian played in symphony orchestras in Sydney, Melbourne and London, and also worked as a healer and counsellor. At one time she was leader and soloist of the Royal Ballet Orchestra at Covent Garden, and also leader of the Adelphi String Quartet.

While working at both professions in London, she felt challenged to find a way to combine these two qualifications. Her prayers were answered when she joined a group who was studying the Art of Healing, focusing on many different modalities. The year-long course provided a basis on which she could then find her own pathway, and develop the skills required to meet 20C healing needs. Now, she could listen sensitively to the problems experienced by her counselling clients and then play healing music to them on her violin, and on dozens of other healing instruments from Indigenous cultures. This music is always spontaneously composed.

In the early 80s she became one of the first pioneers to bring back knowledge of how Sound and Colour had been used for healing in several ancient civilisations, such as Atlantis and Lemuria.

Dian has worked with many organisations, including the Sydney, Melbourne and BBC Symphony Orchestras, the Gulbenkian Foundation in Portugal, the Roerich Museum in Moscow, the Concertgebouw Concert Hall in Amsterdam, Melbourne University, The National Foundation for Educational Research in England and Wales, the Educational and Industrial Test Services in the UK, Eagle Training Services in the United States, and N.T. Mental Health Services in Australia.

Her professional affiliations include the Australian Health Practitioners Association and the Australian Psychological Society.

She has travelled and worked throughout the United Kingdom, France, Belgium, Germany, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Egypt, Yugoslavia, Croatia, Serbia, Austria, Switzerland, Sweden, Estonia, Denmark, Holland, Greece, Malta, Russia, Uzbekistan, Japan, Singapore, Hong Kong, Sri Lanka, Bali, Canada, USA, Mexico, Peru, Brazil, New Zealand, and Hawaii.
